Bipolar Effects and It’s Impact On Life

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Dealing with bipolar effects in someone who is ill can be a significant strain on not only the victim, but everyone within the victims sphere of life. Bipolar disorder is characterized by extreme mood swings. Some times the mood swings are rapid and changing, other times the mood swings affect the victim over a long period of time. They will sink into a severely depressed stage for weeks at a time, and then move to a manic phase for several more weeks.

Occasionally bipolar effects are minimal, at least during ‘normal’ periods when the victim feels healthy and whole for a short time. There are many instances of bipolar sufferers only going through one or two episodes during their entire lives, and spend the rest perfectly normal. Then there are those who battle with bipolar episodes every day, and the bipolar effects on their lives.

Unfortunately there isn’t a concrete known cause for bipolar disorder. However it is widely believed to be genetically passed down through the family. Bipolar disorder can also manifest at nearly any age. However it is most common in late teens and adults. Bipolar effects CAN be seen in children as young as infancy however, so if you have a family history, you may want to be on the look out for signs and symptoms.

What is interesting about bipolar disorder and bipolar effects is that no two people have been documented to experience the same pattern of mood swings. Frequency and intensity of bipolar effects vary widely from person to person.

One of the more intriguing bipolar effects, is the manic episodes. Victims are pumped, almost like they are on drugs, and full of grandiose ideas and theories. They tend to have very little self control when it comes to pleasurable, but disastrous things like embarking on a spending spree they can ill afford, or being promiscuous with strangers. Unfortunately victims are unable to see the harm in their behavior, or understand the bipolar effects that are controlling their lives.
